Winnipeg Wool Rug
Form & Presence
Three distinct wool constructions — twisted rope ridges, dense boucle knots, and a lower looped ground — arranged in irregular rectangular blocks across a warm ivory field. No color separates them; the contrast between blocks comes entirely from how the pile sits. The rope sections run in tight parallel lines, the boucle knots cluster close and round.
In a bedroom with the curtains still drawn, the rug is the first thing underfoot in the morning. The three textures register differently beneath each step — the rope ridges firm and directional, the boucle sections close and yielding, the looped ground steady and flat where the raised sections give way around it.
Material & Composition
- Measurements 5' W × 8' L
- Material Premium hand-tufted wool — substantial and dense underfoot
- Color Palette Warm ivory and cream throughout; tonal variation from the three surface constructions catching light differently
- Surface & Texture High-relief pile in three constructions — twisted rope ridges, clustered boucle knots, and a lower looped ground arranged in irregular blocks
- Pile Height High-relief multi-construction
- Rug Pad Recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
- Artisan Touches Slight variations in weave, texture, and tone are natural to each hand-tufted piece
Care & Longevity
The multi-texture sculpted surface of a hand-tufted wool rug requires careful vacuuming to preserve the distinction between the rope, boucle, and looped constructions — each responds differently and more gently than a standard tufted pile.
- Vacuum regularly on a low-pile setting without a beater bar
- Vacuum with the pile direction to protect rope and boucle sections
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub
- Spot-clean with mild detergent and cold water when needed
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the ivory tone and pile depth
- Professional cleaning recommended for deep care
- Rotate periodically to ensure even wear across all three surface constructions
