Form & Presence

Natural cotton in cream gives this pillow a plain field for one figure: a beetle in deep navy cloth, appliquéd at the center, so large that its legs and antennae nearly reach the seams. Inside the shell the embroidery is mirrored down the spine — red blooms, green leaves and gold buds matched on either side, worked in dense wool. Navy piping closes the edge.

A single motif this size holds a chair the way a framed print holds a wall — it needs nothing beside it. The navy shell is smooth cloth; the flowers inside are raised wool, so the thumb finds the pattern through the shell's outline. The symmetry means the beetle sits true whichever way up the pillow lands.

Care & Longevity

The beetle is appliquéd in navy cloth and then embroidered over, so two techniques sit on one shape — the cut edge can lift, and the stitching inside it can catch. Deep navy on cream is the sharpest contrast in the range, and heat will move the navy first.

If washing at home, turn cover inside out and use cold gentle cycle with mild detergent
Lay flat or tumble dry on low and reshape promptly
Do not iron directly on embroidered areas; use a cloth barrier if needed
