Tresden Wool & Jute Rug
Form & Presence
The botanical motifs — vines, open blooms, and scattered leaves — are woven in wool and set into a flatwoven jute ground. At each flower and stem, the two fibers meet at a visible edge: the jute open and dry, the wool slightly denser where the motif sits. The ground stays warm and generous between them.
A wide room in an adobe ranch — thick walls, afternoon sun coming in low, the floor mostly bare. The rug sits beneath a long table, its botanical field the only pattern in the room. The terracotta blooms and the warm ivory ground settle into the space without competing with the walls around them.
Material & Composition
- Measurements 5' W × 8' L
- Material Handwoven wool and jute — wool worked into the botanical motifs, jute forming the ground between them
- Color Palette Warm ivory ground with blooms in terracotta and dusty rose, leaves in slate blue and olive, stems in dark brown, and ochre accents throughout
- Surface & Texture Open, coarse jute ground with wool motifs sitting slightly denser at each flower, stem, and leaf — the two fibers distinct at close range
- Pile Height Flat — no pile, the motifs and ground share a consistently low profile across the full field
- Rug Pad Recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
- Artisan Touches Slight variations in weave tension and tone highlight the individuality of each handwoven piece
Care & Longevity
A wool and jute blend rewards gentle, consistent care — jute is a natural fiber sensitive to moisture, and the flatwoven construction is best maintained by addressing spills immediately and keeping the rug dry.
- Vacuum regularly using a low-suction setting without a beater bar
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub or saturate
- Avoid wet cleaning or steam cleaning — jute is sensitive to moisture
- Spot clean wool motifs gently with mild detergent and cold water when needed
- Professional cleaning recommended for occasional deep care
- Rotate periodically to ensure even wear and maintain appearance
- A rug pad is recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
