Tracey Onyx Candle Holders

Two holders cut from the same onyx, the same stacked ring form — one shorter, one taller. Each rises in a column of rounded rings that narrow toward a small opening at the top. The stone is warm ivory and beige with brown veining in soft, irregular sweeps. Both are polished across every curve.

On a dining table set for dinner, the two holders go down before the candles are lit — the taller toward the center, the shorter one placed beside it. Once the tapers are in and the flame is going, the veining shifts with the warmth. The brown reads differently in each holder.

Beige onyx in candle use is most at risk from wax pooling and heat — both can work into the stone's surface if left unattended. Remove any pooled wax promptly and keep the candle trimmed so the flame stays close to the taper rather than burning down into the stone opening.

• Trim taper candles to keep the flame from burning close to the stone opening.
• Remove pooled wax promptly — do not allow wax to harden inside or around the candle opening.
• To remove wax, allow it to cool fully, then lift it cleanly — do not use sharp tools on the stone surface.
• Wipe the stone with a soft, dry cloth after each use.
• Keep away from acidic cleaners — wipe with a barely damp cloth if needed, then dry immediately.
• Do not submerge in water.
• Apply a stone sealer periodically to protect the surface around the candle opening.
