Tirana Wool Rug
Form & Presence
A dense looped pile carrying tonal variation through the yarn itself — ivory, warm sand, and soft caramel woven from the same construction, the color shifting where the fiber character changes. The composition is spare: a block in one corner, two horizontal bands, a double vertical line running through the field. The ivory ground holds the majority of the surface.
A large open room in a mountain house — early morning, the air still, a reading corner beside a wide window. The rug sits beneath the seat and beside it, its caramel block grounding one corner while the ivory field opens toward the center of the room. The two tones divide the floor quietly between them.
Material & Composition
- Measurements 5' W × 8' L
- Material Handwoven wool — naturally varied in fiber density, with the yarn irregularity contributing to the tonal depth across the field
- Color Palette Ivory white ground with warm sand and soft caramel in the banded and blocked sections, and a soft grey in the double vertical line — all within a close neutral register
- Surface & Texture Dense looped pile with a close-set, fibrous face — the caramel and sand sections carry more open fiber character than the ivory sections
- Pile Height Low — consistent across the full field, the tonal variation carried through yarn character rather than height change
- Rug Pad Recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
- Artisan Touches Slight variations in weave structure, fiber texture, and tonal depth reflect the individuality of each handwoven piece
Care & Longevity
Handwoven wool is a resilient fiber that improves with considered care — the dense looped construction benefits from regular vacuuming to maintain pile integrity, and the tonal field is best preserved by rotating the rug periodically to ensure even exposure across the full surface.
- Vacuum regularly using a low-pile setting without a beater bar
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub
- Spot clean gently with mild detergent and cold water
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve tonal depth
- Rotate periodically to ensure even wear and maintain appearance
- Professional cleaning recommended for deep care
- A rug pad is recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
