Tirana Wool Rug

Wool, worked into a rug in dense looped pile carrying ivory, warm sand and soft caramel in one continuous weave. The marks are few — a caramel block in one corner, two bands across the field, a doubled vertical line in soft gray. Ivory holds most of the surface, empty.

Most of this rug is empty ground, and the few marks it does carry sit off-center — which makes placement consequential in a way an all-over pattern never is. Set a sofa across the caramel block and the composition is gone; leave it clear and the corner does its work. There is a right way round here.

Handwoven wool is a resilient fiber that improves with considered care — the dense looped weave benefits from regular vacuuming to maintain pile integrity, and the tonal field is preserved by rotating the rug periodically to ensure even exposure across the full surface.

• Spot clean gently with mild detergent and cold water
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve tonal depth
