Form & Presence

Hammered matte gold over stainless steel, made up as four butter knives — a wide spreader blade narrowing at the collar to a flat handle, the hammered texture running across blade and grip without a break. Fragments of abalone and mother of pearl are inlaid on both handle faces, set flush into recessed panels.

Inlaid on both faces means a knife can be set down either way up and still show shell. The hammered surface hides the marks a soft butter leaves. Abalone and mother of pearl sit in the same panel, so one side of a handle can run blue-green where the other runs cream.
