Shayne Onyx Bowl

Onyx, left chiseled and raw across the outer faces of a block and then polished into a round bowl at its center. The interior is polished smooth so the veining shifts with the light; the exterior stays rough and matte. The contrast between the two finishes is the whole condition of the object.

Raw outside, polished inside: the block keeps its quarried face on every exterior surface and gives up only the hollow to finishing. The rough faces hide marks the polished interior would show. The fracture pattern of the chiseled faces differs on every block.

• Material Onyx — dense and cool to the touch, with a weight that anchors it firmly on any surface
• Color Variants Verdant Green Onyx — pale gray-green ground with deeper sage-green veining and diffuse gray-green clouding • Hazel Brown Onyx — deep gray-brown ground with pale gray clouding, dark charcoal veining, and near-black fracture lines
• Surface & Texture Chiseled raw faces on the base exterior — rough and uneven. Polished smooth on the bowl interior — cool and glassy against the stone's natural patterning
• Measurements 12″ L × 12″ W × 2.5″ H
• Weight 25 lb
• Natural Variation The texture, depth, and fracture pattern of the chiseled faces vary from piece to piece

Onyx is a porous stone — the polished interior and the raw chiseled base respond differently to moisture and cleaning agents, and both require dry, gentle handling to stay sound.

• Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth — avoid damp cloths on either surface
• Blot any moisture from the polished interior immediately — do not allow water or liquid to sit on the surface
• Avoid acidic cleaners, citrus, vinegar, and abrasive cloths on all surfaces — these damage the polish and can pit the raw stone
• Do not use wax or sealant on the chiseled base — it alters the natural texture and appearance of the raw stone
• Apply a stone-safe sealant to the polished interior periodically to preserve its finish — consult a stone care specialist for product recommendations
• Place on a protective surface — the raw base is unfinished and may mark softer surfaces beneath it
