Verde Guatemala marble, carved into a low bowl whose rim is as broad as the basin it surrounds. The stone runs a moss and earth-brown ground with dense fine patterning, bold rust and orange mineral lines cutting through in broad strokes, and patches of near-black alongside. Honed on every face, matte and close-grained.

A rim that wide leaves only a shallow basin — the stone is most of what you see, and whatever goes in it sits low. Moss and earth-brown carry the ground; the rust cuts across it in broad strokes. Honed rather than polished means those lines read as color rather than reflection.

Verde Guatemala marble is sensitive to acidic substances and prolonged moisture — both will mark the surface and dull the stone's natural ground color over time, making prompt care after use essential for this piece.

• Wipe with a soft dry cloth after each use
• For spills, clean immediately with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap — dry thoroughly
• Keep citrus, vinegar, and acidic substances away from the stone surface
• Do not use abrasive cloths or chemical cleaners on any surface
• Lift rather than drag when repositioning — the base will scratch surfaces beneath
• Apply a stone sealant periodically to maintain the surface and slow absorption
