Santorini Wool & Denim Rug
Form & Presence
The pattern is hand-tufted into a dense wool and upcycled denim pile — angular, interlocking forms stepping across an ivory ground on the diagonal. The wool tufts sit full and close; the denim sections rise slightly above, physically distinct at a different height. The two fibers read as one surface from across a room.
A wide living room in a house near water — low furniture, pale walls, the day moving toward afternoon. The rug sits beneath a sofa and two chairs, its geometry carrying across the floor plane without stopping at the furniture legs. The pattern reads as architecture from the doorway.
Material & Composition
- Measurements 5' W × 8' L
- Material Hand-tufted wool and upcycled denim — dense and close-set, with the denim lending a slightly cooler hand than wool alone
- Color Palette Deep navy, steel blue, and pale powder blue across an ivory ground — three tones within the pattern, shifting across the field
- Surface & Texture Sculpted hand-tufted pile — firm underfoot with a textured, close-set face
- Pile Height Low-to-mid — dense tufted construction with two fiber heights across the field
- Rug Pad Recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
- Artisan Touches Slight variations in tone and pile height across the field reflect the nature of hand-tufting with two fiber types
Care & Longevity
The wool and upcycled denim pile of the Santorini requires gentle, consistent care — the two fiber types respond differently to moisture and agitation, and the sculpted pile depth is best preserved by avoiding direct heat and aggressive vacuuming over the raised sections.
- Vacuum regularly using a low-pile setting without a beater bar
- Vacuum with the pile direction — going against the grain can disturb the sculpted surface
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub
- Spot clean gently with mild detergent and cold water when needed
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve tonal depth in the denim fiber
- Professional cleaning recommended for deeper maintenance
- A rug pad is recommended for grip, cushioning, and longevity
