Round heads in matte gold — one a deep-bowled spoon, the other an open fork with two broad tines — on handles wound in natural braided rope that run the full length and end in a gathered tassel. Where the gold is smooth and cool, the rope is textured and close-wound, the two materials sitting in clear contrast along the same form.

At the dinner table, they rest beside the salad bowl before the meal begins. The rope handles pass from hand to hand through the course of dinner — the braid holding more naturally than a smooth metal handle would.

Braided natural rope requires gentle handling — moisture and heat are the two things most likely to loosen the braid or alter the tassel over time, so hand washing and immediate drying are essential after each use.

• Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water — do not submerge the rope handle
• Dry immediately and thoroughly after each wash, paying particular attention to the base of the tassel
• Do not place in the dishwasher — heat and prolonged water exposure will damage the rope and loosen the braid
• Keep away from prolonged direct heat or humidity, which can cause the natural fibre to stiffen or fray
• Store flat or upright to preserve the tassel form — avoid compression under other pieces
• Avoid abrasive cloths or harsh cleaning agents on the matte gold head surfaces
