Santiago Gold Cheese Knives

Three stainless steel blades in matte gold — a flat knife, a fork-tipped knife, and a narrow spreader — each on a handle wound in natural braided rope that ends in a gathered tassel. The blades are compact and distinct; the rope handles give each the same construction but a different action in hand.

Laid out on a cheese board before guests arrive, the three knives sit with tassel ends trailing off the edge. Each blade stays with its cheese through the evening — the rope handles making them easy to distinguish and reach across a full spread.

Braided natural rope requires gentle handling — moisture and heat are the two things most likely to loosen the braid or alter the tassel over time, so hand washing and immediate drying are essential after each use.

• Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water — do not submerge the rope handle
• Dry immediately and thoroughly after each wash, paying particular attention to the base of the tassel
• Do not place in the dishwasher — heat and prolonged water exposure will damage the rope and loosen the braid
• Keep away from prolonged direct heat or humidity, which can cause the natural fibre to stiffen or fray
• Store flat or upright to preserve the tassel form — avoid compression under other objects
• Avoid abrasive cloths or harsh cleaning agents on the matte gold blade surfaces
