Paloma Marble Coasters

Four coasters, each cut from white marble with a beveled rim and a gently indented center — the surface slightly dished so a glass base settles naturally into place. The bevel runs the full perimeter, clean and consistent, dropping from the rim to the side wall at an even angle. Each piece carries its own grey veining, fine and irregular across the face.

By evening, one coaster sits beside a glass on the side table of a bedroom overlooking the water. The lamp is on and the curtains are drawn. The room has been quiet for an hour. The white marble holds its place on the dark wood without drawing attention to itself.

White marble needs to be kept dry and wiped down promptly — the indented center holds liquid rather than shedding it, and prolonged contact with drinks or acidic substances will mark the stone.

• Wipe immediately with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap after each use
• Dry thoroughly — do not leave water pooled in the center indentation
• Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, which will etch and dull the marble
• Do not use coasters in a dishwasher or submerge in water
• Avoid leaving damp glasses on the surface for extended periods
• Store in a dry environment away from prolonged moisture or humidity
