Paloma Marble Coasters

White marble, cut into four coasters with a beveled rim and a center dished just enough that a glass base settles into it. The bevel runs the full perimeter, dropping from rim to side wall at an even angle. Each carries its own gray veining — fine, irregular, with faint purple undertones running through the white.

A glass sits in the dish rather than on it, so a knocked table does not send the drink sliding. Marble stays cool, so condensation collects on the coaster instead of the wood beneath. The bevel drops at an even angle all the way round, which keeps a thick stone from reading heavy.

White marble needs to be kept dry and wiped down promptly — the indented center holds liquid rather than shedding it, and prolonged contact with drinks or acidic substances will mark the stone.

• Wipe immediately with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap after each use
• Dry thoroughly — do not leave water pooled in the center indentation
• Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, which will etch and dull the marble
• Do not use coasters in a dishwasher or submerge in water
• Avoid leaving damp glasses on the surface for extended periods
• Store in a dry environment away from prolonged moisture or humidity
