Form & Presence

Natural cotton in an oat tone is the ground of this pillow, the motifs few and large: a teal flower with a ringed center, a sky-blue bloom lower down, lime and forest-green leaves appliquéd from cut cloth, and one orange bird with a gray-blue wing between them. A brown stem links the flowers; a loose fringe in green and blue runs all four sides.

The fringe moves first — it lifts when the pillow is set down and settles slowly, softening the edge against a hard-armed chair. The appliqué pieces are a second layer of cloth, so the flowers sit higher than the ground and keep a crisp outline. From across a room the bird is small; it is found second, and stays.

Care & Longevity

The leaves on this pillow are appliquéd — cut cloth stitched down at its edges — which gives them a seam that can lift where an embroidered leaf has none. Handle the piece by its ground rather than by the shapes, and keep the oat cotton out of long sun.

If washing at home, turn cover inside-out and use a cold gentle cycle with mild detergent
Air dry flat or tumble dry low to maintain shape and texture
