Noble Marble Mortar & Pestle

A block of white marble with corners rounded to a near-continuous curve, carved into a mortar and pestle — the bowl cut deep into the top, the pestle a solid rod that rests inside it. Both pieces come from the same white marble, the gray veining running unbroken across the pair. Dense, cool, and low on any surface it occupies.

The block is squared off and then softened at every corner, so from across a counter it reads as one solid mass with a hole in it rather than as a bowl on a base. The pestle's rounded head reaches the bottom of the bowl. Gray veining runs unbroken from one piece to the other.

Solid white marble is a porous stone that responds to moisture and abrasion — the bowl interior in particular benefits from careful handling to preserve the stone's finish and natural character over time.

• Rinse the bowl interior with warm water and mild soap after each use
• Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth — do not leave water sitting inside the bowl
• Avoid acidic ingredients or harsh cleaners that may damage the marble
• Do not place in the dishwasher
• Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to maintain its surface
• Store away from prolonged humidity to preserve the stone's natural luster
