Lime green covers the entire face — a ground worked in spiral wool stitching that gives it density. At the centre, a cobalt medallion; around it, four navy branch forms reach toward the corners. An open teal lattice runs the border. Warm ground, cool blue tones — the composition is formally symmetrical and holds the contrast well.

Against the back of a dining chair, the pillow introduces colour without softening the room. The green holds its saturation across most light conditions. The cobalt at the centre stays fixed — a point the eye returns to after moving across the full border and back.

Crewel wool embroidery on a cotton ground requires gentle handling — dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the density of the spiral-stitched ground and the depth of the cobalt and teal tones over time.

• If spot cleaning is necessary, use mild soap and cold water — work gently and avoid saturating the embroidered ground
• Lay flat or reshape and air-dry away from direct sunlight to prevent fading of the lime green ground

• Store flat or loosely folded to avoid compressing the raised wool stitching
