Macello Salt & Pepper Shakers

Two mango wood shakers, each carved into a multi-planar faceted form — the concave scooped faces running the full height of the body, the grain shifting direction across each face. The wood moves from warm honey to deep brown depending on the angle, no two faces reading the same. A brushed steel cap in matte gold sits flush at the top of each shaker, clean and close against the carved wood below.

Set on a dining table between dishes, the two shakers sit at different heights — the taller one reaching just above the shorter, the faceted surfaces catching the light differently as hands move around the table. Picked up, the wood is warm and the cap cool — the contrast is immediate, something noticed without thinking about it.

Mango wood stays in best condition when kept dry — moisture and prolonged exposure to water are the most likely causes of warping and grain lift over time. The brushed steel caps are best wiped clean rather than submerged.

• Do not submerge in water or place in a dishwasher
• Avoid prolonged exposure to water or steam
• Do not use harsh cleaning agents on the metal caps
• Condition occasionally with food-safe oil to maintain the wood's natural lustre
• Store in a dry setting away from direct heat or sunlight
