Lunar Wool Rug

Wool, flat-woven into a rug scattered with charcoal cord motifs above a sand ground — diamonds, triangles, chevrons, zigzag lines and cross forms, each worked in twisted cord that stands clear of the surface. No two forms match, and the placement across the field follows no grid.

Nothing in this field repeats, so the eye never finds a rhythm to settle into and the surface stays active from every approach. Twisted cord catches light along its length rather than flat across it, which is why the charcoal deepens and lightens as you cross the room. Two tones only, at full contrast.

The light sand wool ground shows foot traffic and soiling more readily than darker rugs — regular vacuuming and prompt attention to spills are the two habits that keep it looking correct over time.

• Vacuum regularly on the suction-only setting — do not use rotating brush attachments, which can snag the raised cord motifs
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — the light ground picks up staining quickly if liquid is left to settle
• Spot clean with a wool-safe solution only — do not saturate the surface
• Rotate every six to twelve months to distribute foot traffic evenly across the motif field
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can shift the tone of the sand ground over time
• Professional cleaning recommended for deeper maintenance — specify wool flat-weave with raised cord detailing to your cleaner
