Leela Horn & Bone Boxes
Form & Presence
The Leela Boxes are two lidded rectangular forms — one large, one small — each surface covered in a hand-etched geometric inlay of horn and bone. The diamond pattern runs continuously across every face, including the lids, with warm deep brown horn set against off-white bone. The etching within each horn piece gives the surface a shallow relief that reads differently at close range than from across a room.
Stacked on a desk or low shelf, the boxes settle into the surface around them. A stack of books beside, a small object on top — the inlay pattern holds its own without competing with what surrounds it. The larger box beneath, the smaller above. That proportion is part of the object.

Care & Longevity
Horn and bone inlay requires gentle care to preserve the integrity of the etched surface and the MDF base beneath — keep away from moisture and handle the boxes by their base rather than the lid.
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain the polished surface
- Avoid abrasive cleaners that may damage the inlay or dull the horn's natural tone
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to preserve natural staining and lustre
- Store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of horn and bone
- Do not submerge in water or expose to humidity — moisture can loosen inlay over time
- Handle by the base — avoid lifting the lid to protect the inlay at the seam
