On a living room floor beneath a coffee table, the wool pile holds its ground, the bands marking the surface quietly beneath whatever is placed above.
Wool and cotton handwoven rugs are best maintained with gentle, regular vacuuming — wool's natural lanolin offers some protection against soiling, but the chunky loop construction traps debris easily and the fibers respond poorly to saturating moisture or harsh cleaning agents.
