Juliet Jute & Wool Rug

Jute, wool and cotton woven into a rug with mustard stripes tufted across the surface. The tufting stands at a medium pile above the lower woven ground, so the stripes are the raised part as well as the colored part. Between them the base stays beige, flat and coarse where the jute comes through.

There is one color in this rug and it is loud. Mustard on beige will not recede behind a sofa the way the tonal rugs do, so this is a rug to choose for rather than around. The stripes are also the tall part of the surface, standing a full pile height above the jute ground between them.

Jute, wool, and cotton rugs with a tufted pile are maintained with gentle, regular vacuuming — the high-low pile traps debris easily, and the jute base is sensitive to moisture, which can cause the fibers to stiffen, distort, or develop mildew if saturated.

• Vacuum regularly on a low suction setting; use a suction-only attachment — beater bars stress both the tufted pile and the woven base
• Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth; do not rub or saturate
• Keep moisture away from the jute base — wet cleaning causes fiber distortion and mildew
• Do not steam clean or wet shampoo
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to preserve the mustard tufting
• Rotate periodically to distribute foot traffic and wear evenly across the pile
