Form & Presence

Cotton and wool, embroidered into a pillow whose entire face is worked in wool — amber and olive paisley forms tossed at varying angles above a slate blue ground that is itself fully stitched. Coral filler motifs sit close between them. No woven fabric shows anywhere on the front.

A face stitched edge to edge in wool is denser and heavier than a printed cover, and it does not crush into creases the way flat fabric does. The reverse is plain white, so this one has a front and nothing else. The coral filler separates from the ground only close up.
