Fuji Wool & Jute Rug

Wool and jute, woven together into a rug whose gradient is not dyed but comes from the weave itself — the two fibers intermingle across the full field, their densities shifting from edge to center. Jute dominates toward the borders, giving a warm golden-sand tone; wool concentrates toward the middle, cooling the surface to gray-blue.

Underfoot the weave is coarse and firm rather than soft — this is a rug for a room that gets walked through, not a bedroom to step into barefoot. The gradient is invisible from the doorway and obvious from a chair. Because the shift is woven, not printed, no two rugs put the boundary in the same place.

Wool and jute respond differently to water — jute is particularly vulnerable to saturation, which can cause the fibers to stiffen, distort, or develop a persistent odor. Keeping this rug dry is the single most important care instruction.

• Vacuum regularly using the suction-only setting — rotating brush attachments can pull and distort the open weave
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub or apply liquid cleaner directly to the surface
• Never saturate with water — spot clean only, and allow the rug to dry fully in a well-ventilated space before returning to use
• Avoid placing in high-moisture areas such as bathrooms or covered outdoor spaces
• Rotate every six to twelve months to distribute foot traffic evenly and slow any tonal shift from light exposure
