Emrys Onyx Bookends

A honed finish runs across every surface — across the flat back, along the stepped ridges that rise and spread outward in a fan from base to arc. Each piece is carved from a single block of onyx, ivory white with quiet sage-green and grey-beige veining that moves through the stone without interruption.

On a library shelf in a house with high ceilings, the pair sit facing each other across a row of spines. The ridges cast their own narrow shadow between them. Nothing on the shelf competes — the books lean in, and the stone holds its position steadily at either end.

Onyx holds best when kept dry and handled with care — the surface is sensitive to acidic substances and abrasion, both of which can dull the honed finish or mark the stone over time.

• For spills, clean with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap — dry immediately
• Keep away from citrus, vinegar, and acidic substances that rest against the stone
• Do not use abrasive cloths or harsh chemical cleaners on any face
• Lift rather than drag when repositioning — the base is stone and will scratch surfaces beneath
