Chicago Ice Bucket

Stainless steel and wood, made up as an ice bucket — a steel body with a wood sleeve bonded around the outside, the grain running the full height so the timber's variation shows on every face. A mirror-polished lid seats over the top with a domed knob, and a swing handle pins to each side.

The wood sleeve is why the outside stays dry to the hand while the steel inside goes cold — no condensation running down onto a counter. The swing handle drops flat when the bucket is set down. The grain runs the full height, so no two buckets carry the same face.

The wood overlay is bonded to a steel body — condensation during use and prolonged moisture are the two things most likely to weaken the bond and lift the wood surface over time. Dry the exterior after every use.

• Dry the wood exterior thoroughly after each use — do not leave wet
• Wipe the wood with a dry cloth only — do not soak or submerge
• Hand wash the steel lid and tongs with mild soap and warm water
• Dry all steel parts immediately after washing
• Do not place any part in a dishwasher
• Do not use abrasive cleaners on the wood surface — they will damage the bond over time
