Brno Marble Cheese Board
Form & Presence
A brushed brass border runs the full perimeter of the board, framing the stone sections — Verde Guatemala marble in a deep forest section, Himalayan Green marble across the pale flowing ground, and Green Onyx, each join between them marked by a brass inlay line that follows the angle of the composition.
Late afternoon, the board is on the island — cheese set down, charcuterie alongside it, someone still arranging at one end. The brass border catches what is left of the day. A kitchen that sees proper use, where things are brought out with intention and the board earns its place each time.
Material & Composition
- Measurements 14″ L × 9″ W × 0.6″ H
- Weight 7 lb
- Material Verde Guatemala marble, Himalayan Green marble, and green onyx, held in a brushed brass border — the verde Guatemala dense and cool, the Himalayan Green fine-grained, the onyx with a softer density and inner depth
- Color Palette Deep forest verde Guatemala, pale flowing Himalayan Green, and a soft onyx ground; warm gold accent running through the composition
- Surface & Texture Honed on both stone surfaces — smooth and close-grained across the full face
- Artisan Touches The inlay lines are set by hand — the angle of the join and the way the stones meet at the seam differs from board to board
Care & Longevity
Both green onyx and Himalayan Green marble are porous — on a board used for cheese and charcuterie, acidic foods left on either stone will etch the surface, and moisture at the inlay seams needs prompt attention after every use.
- Wipe the board clean immediately after use — do not allow food, oil, or citrus to sit on either stone surface.
- Clean with a pH-neutral soap and warm water only; avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners on both the stone and the brass.
- Dry thoroughly after each use — moisture sitting at the inlay seams will work into the stone over time.
- Seal the stone surfaces with a penetrating stone sealer before first use; reseal every six to twelve months.
- Wipe the brass border with a dry cloth; avoid chemical cleaners on the metal.
- Do not use abrasive pads on any surface.
