Bogota Jute & Denim Rug

Jute braided into an open lattice rug — each strand crossing the next at a consistent angle to form diamond-shaped cells across the full surface. The body is natural and warm, the weave close enough to hold underfoot but open enough that recycled denim woven through reads as scattered blue beneath. The border is bound in the same denim.

An open lattice passes crumbs and grit through to the floor beneath, which is worth knowing before it goes under a dining table — sweep under it, not just over it. Jute is coarser than wool underfoot and stays that way. The braid sits flat from the first day and does not need weighting down at the corners.

Jute rugs stay sound with regular dry maintenance — moisture is the primary threat, as it can cause the fibers to swell, distort, or develop odor over time.

• Vacuum regularly on a low setting; avoid the beater bar, which can stress the braid
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub
• Do not saturate with water or use wet shampoo methods
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can fade the natural fiber tone
• Spot clean with a small amount of mild soap and minimal moisture; allow to dry fully before use
• Lay flat to dry if any moisture is introduced — never fold or store damp
• Use a rug pad to prevent slipping and reduce fiber stress underfoot
