Form & Presence

Natural cotton, embroidered into a pillow of large sweeping color blocks — sunlit yellow, cobalt, terracotta red and sage green, each form edged in a raised charcoal contour line. The shapes intersect without reference to anything figurative, and no plain ground shows anywhere on the face.

Four saturated colors meeting edge to edge would muddy each other; the charcoal contour is what stops that, doing the same job the lead does in a stained window. Every block is bounded, so each color stays clean against the next. The contour line runs raised and unbroken around every form.
