Aloha Avian Throw Pillow

Natural cotton and wool, embroidered into a pillow covered in bird forms — each one turned a different way, worked in teal and periwinkle wool against a warm amber ground. The birds are solid shapes rather than detailed studies, joined loosely by tobacco-brown stem lines. Spiral stitching raises each one clear of the ground.

No two birds face the same way, so this cover has no top and no bottom — drop it on a sofa any way up and the composition still works. Amber is the warmest ground in the pillow range, and the teal reads at full strength against it. The spiral stitching resolves into concentric rings only up close.

Crewel wool embroidery on a cotton ground requires gentle handling — dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the density of the stitching and the vibrancy of the amber ground over time.

• If spot cleaning is necessary, use mild soap and cold water — work gently on the surface and avoid saturating the embroidered ground
• Lay flat or reshape and air-dry away from direct sunlight to prevent fading of the amber ground and yellow-toned fibers
• Do not iron directly on the embroidered surface; use a cloth barrier if needed
• Store flat or loosely folded to avoid compressing the raised wool stitching
