The pattern is tonal — circles and squares tufted across the full surface in the same colour as the ground, the geometry visible through relief and shadow rather than contrast. The forms repeat in a steady grid from edge to edge, no border interrupting the pattern. The pile is deep throughout, the raised motifs sitting flush with the overall density of the surface.

At the entrance to the bathroom — the mat placed where the floor changes, the tonal pattern the first thing the foot finds. The relief reads as texture before it reads as geometry, the circles and squares becoming distinct only once the eye adjusts. In ivory, the surface stays pale and close to the floor. In teal, it holds its tone against whatever sits alongside.

Cotton bath mats in deep tonal pile hold their colour and surface definition best when washed cold — heat flattens the pile over time and can reduce the visibility of the relief pattern in both the ivory and teal.

• Tumble dry low or air dry to maintain pile depth and colour
• Shake or vacuum occasionally to refresh the surface pile
• Avoid harsh chemicals that may affect yarn colour and fibre quality
• Do not iron directly on the tufted surface
• Wash separately for the first wash to preserve colour integrity
