Tasmania Onyx Coasters

Four round coasters, each cut from a single piece of onyx and polished flat across the face. The stone runs warm — ivory ground banded with amber, sandy brown, and charcoal, the veining moving in broad layered sweeps that shift direction from one coaster to the next. Small natural fissures and pockets remain where the stone opened during formation.

Set out before an evening at the bar, four coasters laid across a wide marble counter, each placed without arrangement — the variation in the stone does the work. A glass comes down. The stone takes the weight of it without ceremony — cool, flat, resolved.

Onyx is a porous stone that responds poorly to liquids left to sit — wipe each coaster dry after use to prevent moisture from working into the surface and dulling the finish over time.

• Wipe dry immediately after each use with a soft, dry cloth
• Clean with a damp cloth only — no soaps, detergents, or cleaning sprays
• Keep away from acidic liquids including citrus, wine, and vinegar — these will etch the surface
• Do not leave moisture pooling on the face for extended periods
• Avoid abrasive cloths or scrubbing pads — these will scratch the polished finish
• Store flat and dry when not in use; do not stack with objects that may scratch the surface
• Apply a stone sealant periodically to maintain the finish and slow moisture absorption
